The 27-year-old reportedly met Maroney through her friend Laura Simpson, months after her split from director Darron Aronofsky last autumn.

‘The relationship has been going on a few weeks,’ a source told the publication. ‘But they have been very private and careful not to be seen together.’

The Oscar-winning actress has previously been romantically linked to Coldplay front man Chris Martin in 2014, and actor Nicholas Hoult, with whom she enjoyed a romance for two years, until their split in 2014.

Despite her break-up with Aronofsky, the pair have remained close friends, with Lawrence even presenting the director of her film, Mother!, with an award at BAM last month.

During her chat with Vogue last year, The Hunger Games star revealed she hopes to find a partner who isn’t fazed by her fame.

‘I’m just a girl who wants you to be nice to me,’ she told the magazine. ‘I am straight as an arrow.

‘I feel like I need to meet a guy, with all due respect, who has been living in Baghdad for five years who has no idea who I am.’
