Sorry, Kentucky. But one outlet says your current football uniforms must go.
Recently, The Spun’s Dan Lyons published a list of 12 college football programs that need to redesign their uniforms. Kentucky was the lone SEC team included, which is bad news for those in the Bluegrass State.

The checkerboard is very controversial in both football and basketball, and just today, athletic director Mitch Barnhart got pretty heated in a defense of the pattern.
At the end of the day, wearing something that players like is extremely important, and Kentucky football isn’t so precious that it can lean on tradition like an Alabama or Penn State. If there is a push from players and recruits to go in a different direction, it should be considered.
Let’s be honest: Kentucky could use a new look. The pattern on the Wildcats’ uniforms can be distracting, and the possibility is there for a cleaner appearance.
At least Kentucky didn’t land on The Spun’s recent list showcasing college football’s worst helmets. That’s a moral victory.
The Wildcats open the 2018 season against Central Michigan on Sept. 1.
