Qatar yesterday accused the Egyptian authorities of delaying issuing visas to its delegation in an effort to obstruct its participation in the Arab League meeting in Cairo, the Rassd News Network reported.
The Qatari News Agency (QNA) quoted Abdulrahman Nasser Al-Obaidan, media advisor at the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC), saying: “It is very disappointing that the Egyptian authorities are obstructing the issuing of travel visas to the Qatari delegation to participate in the 91st ordinary session of the Arab Media Ministers Committee.”
“The QMC has completed all the procedures required to obtain visas for its members to participate in these meetings, but received no official response from Egyptian authorities in this regard,” he continued
Al-Obaidan held the General Secretariat of the Arab League responsible for depriving the State of Qatar from participating in these meetings. He said that the Arab League must take all measures to ensure the participation of its delegations.
The meeting took place from the 7-9 May.
There was no response from Cairo on the Qatari accusations.
