UK politics – LIVE: Labour mocks the government’s ‘chuckle brothers’ Brexit

SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford again asks about Donald Trump’s visit to the UK this week. He says the government should ask the US president about his “abysmal record on human rights, his repugnant attitude towards women and his disgraceful treatment of minorities”.

David Lidington says the UK-US relationship is “probably the

closest between any two democracies in the West”, adding:

“It has lasted between Democratic and Republican presidents alike and between Labour and Conservative premierships on this side of the Atlantic.”

He says security cooperation with the US has saved the lives of UK citizens and that “it is right we welcome the duly elected president of our closet ally”.
